In front of the Lens

Mise en Scene

In this unedited mise en scène, we find one person seated, anxiety etched across their face, as they take slow, deliberate puffs from a cigarette. Their demeanor radiates tension, and the atmosphere is palpably charged.

As a friend approaches, casually inquiring about a cigarette, a seemingly routine question opens the floodgates to raw emotion. The person who was once composed now crumbles, their vulnerability laid bare. This scene encapsulates a powerful moment where the facade of composure shatters, revealing the complex and intricate layers of human emotions beneath.

Silent Film - Kal (Tomorrow)

In my silent film, "Kal (Tomorrow) ," I delve into the intricate world of procrastination. Zaroon, our protagonist, grapples with the relentless urge to put everything off until tomorrow. His life becomes a delicate juggling act, with the pendulum swinging between his thesis, social life, and workplace demands. Zaroon's earnest attempts to allocate time to each facet of his existence lead to a series of comical yet poignant moments. As the frames unfold, we witness the timeless struggle against the looming specter of procrastination, leaving every task perpetually in the realm of the unfinished.

Intellectual Montage | Trolly Culture

In my intellectual montage, I have intricately woven the tapestry of trolley culture through the lens of chai (tea). Each variety - the bold black, the delicate white, the aromatic cardamom, and the overflowing cups - becomes a metaphor for the diverse range of girls that face scrutiny when the aunties arrive seeking proposals for their sons. As they sip their chai, they scrutinize the girls, commenting on their body size, complexion, and imperfections. These judgments reveal the harsh reality of how society often fixates on external attributes, failing to recognize the unique qualities and potential within each individual. The variety of chai now not only symbolizes the diversity of girls but also underscores the superficial standards imposed upon them. Just as these teas carry unique flavors, all the girls too possess their individuality, hidden behind a facade of societal expectations.

Short Film: A Subtle Affair | Actor

In the short film where I had the opportunity to act, comedy took center stage as we explored the humorous side of public displays of affection. The narrative revolved around two individuals who exchanged flirtatious glances, prompting a rendezvous at a specific location.

However, the twist in the tale came when a curious onlooker intervened, leading to a delightful revelation. Instead of the expected exchange of romantic gestures, it turned out to be a playful exchange of fluids - water, to be precise. The film playfully highlighted the amusing misinterpretations that can arise from public affection, leaving the audience in fits of laughter while reminding us that humor can often be found in the unexpected.

Film - 'Kahani' (Tale) - Directors Binder

In "Kahani," a gripping and emotionally charged film, we delve into the intricate web of love and betrayal. Meet our protagonist, a 27-year-old woman deeply entangled in a passionate love affair with Saleem, a man she sees infrequently, but when they meet, time stands still. However, their world shatters when Saleem abruptly disappears after leaving her pregnant, only to resurface in a shocking twist – dating her own child, who remains oblivious to his true identity. As the child's curiosity unravels a painful truth, the film explores the raw emotions of love, betrayal, and the complex dynamics that bind us together, even in the most unexpected ways. "Kahani" is a powerful tale of love's unforeseen consequences.

Film - Aurat ( Woman ) - Actor

In the short film I acted in, I portrayed a powerful narrative that highlighted how women, regardless of their attire, are subjected to societal judgment. It served as a stark reminder that this societal scrutiny remains an unrelenting issue. As the story unfolded, it became evident that, over time, women themselves often become part of this cycle of judgment, even unintentionally. It's a thought-provoking short film on how deeply ingrained these behaviors can be in society, ultimately perpetuating a cycle of scrutiny and judgment that continues to affect women's lives.

Silent Film (Kal - Tomorrow) - Directors Binder

In KAL (Tomorrow)," my silent film, the meticulous director's binder serves as a testament to the comprehensive journey undertaken to breathe life into this project. Every page of this binder holds the essence of the countless hours of planning, creative brainstorming, and collaborative efforts that went into bringing Zaroon's story to the screen. From initial concept sketches to storyboards, script drafts, casting decisions, and set designs, the binder encapsulates the heart and soul of this cinematic endeavor, ensuring that every aspect of the film's creation is preserved for posterity.
